Meditation is a practice whereby one uses stillness and breath to clear and focus the mind and establish channels to one’s higher self and the universe. A way of turning the mind inwards to connect with an inner calm and an inner peace. It enables us to reduce mental activity, release our fears, doubts, negative thoughts and worries and reduce stress.
The Benefits of meditation
The calming effect of meditation can make a significant impact upon our health as many ailments are caused by stress. Further benefits of meditation include relaxation, mental clarity, improved ability to focus and visualize, a general expansion of consciousness and a feeling of inner calm, as well as being a useful tool to help us find solutions to problems, and seek guidance in achieving our goals.
Meditation is a powerful tool for clearing blocks and negative beliefs and for setting intentions towards manifestation. It is a place to connect with your inner self and with Source. It is fertile ground in which to plant the seeds of desire and intention, as well as to tend to the garden of your life.
How to meditate
Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed, back straight and breathe slowly and deeply. If you cannot sit comfortably on the floor or on a cushion in the traditional manner, then sit on a straight-backed chair or lie flat on your back with your arms by your side and your palms facing upwards.
Continue to breathe deeply, focusing your attention on the rhythm of your breathing. Try to clear your mind, brushing any thoughts that may come into your mind aside. When it is time to move out of meditation, take 3 deeper breaths and open your eyes.
An alternative way to meditate is by using guided meditations. This is a practice where you listen to either a recording or a guide in person. The guide walks you through breathing techniques into a state of meditation; they take you on a journey of relaxation, stress relief and connection. Guided meditations are designed to address many issues and cater for all sorts of needs, from releasing negativity to assisting with issues such as weight loss, self-image and insomnia. Guided meditations are a great way to explore meditation and develop techniques for you to use on your own.
I have recorded guided meditations to assist in clearing, cleansing, balancing, connecting and manifesting. They are all around 10-15 minutes in length and are easy to download and store on your phone or tablet, ready to use whenever you need them. These meditations are great to get you started with practicing meditation. They will guide you into a meditative state and then work to achieve the pre-established goals. It is advisable to meditate daily, working through each issue until you feel clear and confident before moving onto the next issue you would like to tackle.
